Eddie O'Brien
Eddie O'Brien is a Security Program Manager and Training Specialist with extensive expertise in school safety, emergency preparedness, and counterterrorism. A 21-year veteran of the NYPD, he retired in July 2023 as a Sergeant Special Assignment after serving in the Counterterrorism Bureau, where he developed and delivered specialized training on threat mitigation, crisis response, and security planning. He played a key role in enhancing school safety by creating and implementing training programs for NYPD School Safety Agents and NYC Department of Education employees, strengthening preparedness and crisis communication. His leadership extended to citywide initiatives, including Hostile Surveillance Detection (HSD) operations, aimed at identifying and preventing preoperational threats to critical infrastructure.
As the co-owner of West 13th Group LLC, Eddie continues his commitment to safety and preparedness by consulting with schools, law enforcement, and private-sector organizations on security best practices. His expertise in risk assessment, threat mitigation, and emergency response training enables educators, administrators, and first responders to build resilience against evolving threats. Through tailored programs, he advances crisis management strategies that empower institutions to protect students, staff, and critical assets.
