Eddie O'Brien
Eddie O’Brien is a security program manager and training specialist with over two decades of experience in counterterrorism, emergency preparedness, and operational training.
A 21-year veteran of the New York City Police Department, he served as a Sergeant Special Assignment in the Counterterrorism Bureau Training Section, where he led the development and delivery of large-scale training programs focused on threat mitigation, crisis response, and real-world operational readiness.
Throughout his career, Eddie has trained tens of thousands of personnel across law enforcement, education, and public safety sectors. He played a key role in strengthening school safety by designing and implementing training programs for NYPD School Safety Agents and NYC Department of Education staff, improving preparedness and crisis communication across one of the largest school systems in the country.
His experience also includes coordinating citywide Hostile Surveillance Detection (HSD) operations, focused on identifying and preventing pre-operational threats to critical infrastructure, as well as planning and executing large-scale counterterrorism exercises across diverse environments.
As co-owner of West 13th Group LLC, Eddie works with schools, government agencies, and private organizations to deliver practical, scalable solutions for safety, preparedness, and response. His approach is grounded in real-world experience, informed by evolving threats, and focused on execution under real conditions.
